Alzheimer's disease Trials

Connection (Medivation)
A Global Phase 3 Safety and Efficacy Study of Oral Dimebon in Patients with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's Disease.
Concert (Medivation)
A Safety and Efficacy Study evaluating Dimebon in patients with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's Disease on Donepezil.
SADD
Investigating the clinical and cost effectiveness of two different classes of antidepressants, SSRI and NASSA (sertraline and mirtazapine, respectively) against placebo treatment in treating patients with depression and dementia.
DOMINO
Examining whether pharmacological treatment with Donepezil alone or Memantine alone is better than placebo at maintaining cognitive function in moderate to severe Alzheimer’s disease. It will also consider whether there are synergistic effects of the two drugs combined, compared with each drug alone.
DeNDRoN 022 and DeNDRoN 023
To demonstrate an advantage of the efficacy of multiple doses of intravenous administration of Bapinuzumab compared to placebo in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease.
DeNDRoN 018 BRAINz (closed to recruitment)
This is a trial assessing the safety and efficacy of a monthly subcutaneous ZT-1 implant in improving cognition, behavioural and overall outcome, compared to oral daily doses of Donepezil.
DeNDRoN 009 SIROCCO (closed to recruitment)
A proof of concept study examining the efficacy of AZD3480, a nicotinic (alpha4beta2) receptor agonist, in improving cognition in patients with mild or moderate Alzheimer’s disease, compared with placebo and Donepezil.

Pitstopp
Promoting Independent Transfers: The Southampton Trial of Physiotherapy for Parkinson’s Disease (PIT:SToPP).
PD Gen
Parkinson’s Disease DNA Bank.
PD Med
A large randomised assessment of the relative cost–effectiveness of different classes of drugs for Parkinson’s Disease.
DeNDRoN 012
A multi–center, placebo–controlled, double–blind trial to examine the safety and efficacy of ACP-103 in the treatment of psychosis in Parkinson’s disease.

Other Neurodegenerative diseases

MND Biobank
Creation of a national DNA and cell line repository for functional genomic research into the aetiopathogenesis of motor neurone disease (MND).
CUPID
Cannabinoid use in progressive inflammatory brain disease (CUPID). Randomised double blind, placebo–controlled, multi–centre, parallel group study.
EURO HD Registry: An Observational Study of the European Huntington–Disease Network (EHDN)
